Key Characteristics

  • Material: 100% Polypropylene (PP) continuous filaments.
  • Manufacturing: Created by needle-punching, which interlocks the continuous filaments into a strong, felt-like fabric.
  • Properties: High strength, good elongation, excellent water permeability, chemical resistance (acids/alkalis), UV resistance (with additives), and resistance to microbes.
  • Types: Can be staple fiber or continuous filament, with variations like thermal bonding and UV treatment available. 

Functions

  • Filtration: Allows water to pass while retaining soil fines, ideal for drains and pipe wraps.
  • Separation: Prevents mixing of different soil layers (e.g., gravel from subgrade).
  • Reinforcement: Improves soil stability and load-bearing capacity, like in retaining walls.
  • Protection: Shields underlying geomembranes and other structures from damage.
  • Drainage: Facilitates liquid or gas flow within the soil.
